John H. Koning Jr.

Mr. Koning was born on April 3, 1946 in Providence, RI, the son of John and Mary Koning. He honorably served in the US Air Force in Vietnam. He was employed for many years as an Electrical Supervisor at Electric Boat in Groton, as well as an officer with the Waterford Police Department for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Goshen Fire House and Fire Police.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, and a sister Mary Willeford.

Mr. Koning is survived by his wife of over 50 years Marie (Geer) Koning, daughter Angela Koning, son John “JJ” Koning (wife Heidi), four granddaughters Madelyn, Katelyn, Emmalyn, and Karalyn Koning. Also survived by his sisters Jean Eyberse, Patricia Lindner and Teresa Koning as well as nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00pm in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in St. Joseph Church, Squire St., New London. Interment will follow in Jordan Cemetery.
