With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ken Vongsa. Ken, aged 63, passed away surrounded by family, in the early hours of February 4, 2024, from a courageous battle with cancer. He had spent the last six years of his retirement between his home in Connecticut and his farm in Laos.
At the age of 20, he was able to escape his war-torn country of Laos to begin a new life in the United States. It was in Washington D.C. where he met his wife of 35 years, Molly Phrasavath.
In 1989, they moved to New London, Connecticut to start their successful restaurant Bangkok City and later added Little Tokyo and Thai One On. He was an avid golfer and traveler. He loved to boast about his daughters and grandchildren. He had the great ability to make anyone smile.
He is survived by his wife, Molly; his daughters Kathaline (Matthew) Clements and Kristin (her partner, Joshua Uschmann) Phrasavath; his grandsons Teddy, Wally, and Archie; his brother Khamphay (Meek) Xaysongkham; his sister Chantha Xaysongkham; and many cherished nieces and nephews and friends, specifically his close friends Rick and Sue Butler. He is preceded in death by his brother Khamla Xaysongkham.
Family, friends, and others are invited to the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home at 181 Ocean Avenue in New London, CT from 1-5pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024 to reminisce and honor the life of Ken.
