Robyn Lyn Monroe, 52, of Ledyard, Connecticut, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at L&M Hospital. She was born January 16, 1969 to Garry and Cheryl Elmer of Mystic, Connecticut and graduated from Fitch High School in 1987.
Robyn married James Monroe Jr. of Waterford on October 3, 1992 at the Groton Congregational Church in Groton, Connecticut.
She was employed by the Department of Defense at Subase New London, retiring in 2014 after 26 years of employment.
She was previously involved with Ledyard Youth League Cheerleading as League President and Coach, as well as a past Girl Scout Troop leader in Ledyard.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, and walking the beach collecting shells and sea glass. Most of all, she cherished spending time with family and friends whenever possible. She also adored caring for her three rescue dogs Henney, Kacey, and Sammy. She was always passionate about helping animals in need and adamantly preached, “Adopt! Don’t shop!”
Robyn will be most remembered for her big heart and even bigger personality which touched every person who had the pleasure of meeting her.
In addition to her husband James, of 29 years, she is survived and will be dearly missed by: her three children Christopher, Nicholas, and Alyssa; her Brother James Elmer, her Sister Abby Magee and husband Ryan; Father-in-Law James Monroe Sr.; Sister-in-Laws Denise Reid and Paula Monroe; as well as nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday October 7, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Service at 181 Ocean Ave, New London, Connecticut. We welcome all of those whose lives were enriched by Robyn’s contagious personality and positive attitude.
