Mrs. Hayes was born on July 16,1925 in Waterford the daughter of Charles and Flora Beebe Loper. She married Allen W. Hayes in Montville in 1968. He predeceased her in 2010.
Ruthie will always be remembered as a loving wife and caring mother and grandmother. She welcomed friends and family into her home with open arms. Her trademark of tight “bear hugs” were spared on no one. She had the spirit of adventure in her youth that remained as a sparkle in her eye to the end. She had a fun-loving attitude and loved to share a laugh about the antics of her children and grandchildren. She overcame the hardships in her life and became a strong woman as a result. She had a “green thumb” and enjoyed bird-watching. She especially enjoyed the company of her husband, family, and any friends that happened to be passing by at “happy hour” on the patio. Many will smile at the memory of their times with her, therefore, a piece of her will always be in our hearts.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughters Linda Nichols of New London, Brenda Talar of Oakdale, Ruth Willow of Mystic, and Adriene Merry of Ledyard; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
