Thomas W. Yankura

He was born on August 23, 1940 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to the late John R. and Marquerite Lutz Yankura.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Yankura and his sister, Joanne Ruse.

He graduated from Springfield College with a BA in Physical Education in 1962, Masters Degree in Science in 1963, and a Masters Degree in Education in 1974. Tom joined the United States Navy in September 1963 as an unrestricted line officer. He completed two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V”, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Stars. He retired in February 1988 at the rank of Captain. He then went on to work for General Dynamics for 10 years. He was a passionate member of The American Legion in Niantic, Connecticut.

Tom is survived by his life partner, Jackie Stone, his brothers, George and Robert Yankura, his sister, Judith Chick, son, Thomas Scott Yankura, daughter Michaelene Yankura, and two grandchildren.
