Warren, fondly known as Ruddy, from his Army days, was born in Harrisville, West Virginia, March 23, 1922. The son of Mary Maude (Enoch) and Edmund Ruddlesden, he was West Virginia proud through and through.
Ruddy enlisted in the US Army in 1939, stationed at Fishers Island, New York. Here, he met his wife Teresa, marrying in 1941.
He is survived by his son Warren and wife Mary, their daughters Marney (Andrew) Elliott, Courtney (James) Dzwonchyk, his daughter Patricia (late Robert) Bernstein, and their daughters, Carey (Courtland) Brown, Jill (Phillipe) Vernex-Loset, 7 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
He is also survived by his late second wife Lucille (Phillips)’s, son Gene and daughter Ann of West Virginia.
Serving in World War II, as an Anti Aircraft Artillery Gun Commander in the South Pacific, he was a proud American to his core. American made was always his first choice.
Through his professional career at Pfizer, he excelled, and created lifelong friends.
After retiring, he travelled across North America, which he loved to reminisce about and enjoyed winter life in Florida.
After many years of “wintering” in Florida he returned to Waterford, to the home of his son and daughter-in-law.
He embraced his new lifestyle enjoying walks on the Niantic Boardwalk, Summer Music at the Beach, Health Clubs, Odd Fellows, and VFW. Forever wearing his WWII Veterans hat, it presented a conversation with anyone he passed by.
His family was his pride and joy, always stating the best part of his day was at the dinner table surrounded by them.
He loved nature; fishing, bird-watching, and gardening were great pastimes of his. His home in Waterford was full of tomato plants and flowers all summer long.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, truly having lived a life well lived.
Ruddy’s family are so thankful for his friendships made at Waterford Seniors Center and how special they always made him feel.
A special thanks to Dr. Andrew Parad.
