Catherine Elizabeth Jenny-Magne'

Catherine Elizabeth Jenny Magne (Bette), age 87, died Friday, May 25, 2012 at home in Folsom, LA. She was born June 7, 1924 in New Orleans, LA to John Matthias Jenny and Mary Agnes Mooney Jenny both of New Orleans, LA. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Jacques A. Magne, Sr. and her siblings: John Matthias Jenny, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Thomas Joseph Jenny of New Orleans, LA, and Savilla Jane Jenny Maltby of Pensacola, FL. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren and her five children: Jacques A. Magne, Jr. (Maurine) of Slidell, LA, Elizabeth Magne Pennington (Edward) of New Orleans, LA, Thomas Joseph Magne (Yvonne) of New Orleans, LA, Frank William Magne (Heidi) of Lafayette, LA, and Jeanne Magne Fabacher (Tom) of Folsom, LA. She graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1942 and attended Newcomb College. She was very active in social and volunteer organizations over the years. She was a member of the Orleans Parish Medical Society Auxiliary, the New Orleans Spring Fiesta, the New Orleans Opera Guild, France-Amerique, and the Sara Mayo Hospital Guild. She was member of the Children of Mary Sodality at Sacred Heart and served as President for several years as well. Her most beloved organization was the Children's Carnival Club, of which she served as Captain for 28 years, from 1974 to 2002. She retired in 2003, after serving 23 years as Executive Secretary for the Louisiana Dermatologic Society. She will be remembered for her ever cheerful outlook, her kindness and compassion. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Scheon Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
