

Clarence Louis Powers, beloved husband of Miriam Blanchard Powers for 48 years, and brother of H. Buddy Brown, Kathleen Trygg Chiles and Debbi Powers Poché, departed this life at 12:20 pm, Saturday, February 25, in Metairie. Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Hiram and Eldria Hale Powers and stepson, Waller H. Dobbins, Jr. He is survived by 3 stepdaughters, Dianne Schindler, Judy Mills (Bruce), and Catherine Kearney, 1 stepson, Philip Steckler, III, 10 grandchildren, Bruce Mills, Jr., Jodi Wittliff, Linda Hinton, Geoffrey Mills, Melissa Williamson, Carolyn Jones, Miriam Wolfson, Kaia Kusiw, Kirsten Jochems, and Kayla Steckler, his 27 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 2 nephews.
A native of New Orleans, he was an active duty member in the U.S. Navy. He also served as a reservist in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement. He was a retired sales representative from the 3M Corporation. He served on the Lake Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of VFW Gretna Post 3121 as well as American Legion Algiers Post 0218, the Pontchartrain Civic Association, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft German club. He served on the Board of Directors for the All Hands Credit Union and the Barbers and Cosmetologists Credit Union.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral home, 3827 Canal St., NOLA, on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:00 Noon.
