Elsie Ackermann Koster

Elsie Mae Ackermann Koster, age 88, passed away on January 23, 2014. Beloved wife for 66 years of the late Louis P Koster Jr. Survived by sons, Louis K Koster (Jody) and Wayne J Koster. Also survived by grandchildren, Glenn J Koster (Wendy), Kirk L Koster (Kristin), Erin K Giusti (E.J.), and great grandchildren, Hannah L Koster, Jacob M Koster, Brooke A Koster, and Abigail G Giusti. She will be laid to rest with her husband and grandson Brett L Koster.

Mrs. Koster for many years was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti church and was a member of the Holy Name and Altar Societies. Mrs. Koster worked as a florist at her family owned business Ackermann’s Florist off of St. Roch Ave in New Orleans for many years. Along with her husband she was actively involved in the fair and Thursday night bingo at St. Maria Goretti church. She and her husband were twice featured in the Clarion Herald for their commitment to their Catholic faith.

Maw Elsie was was greatly loved by everyone who came in contact with especially her family and friends. Her grandchildren will miss her rice krispie treats and chocolate chip cookies and Monday family dinners.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in the chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son funeral home, 3827 Canal St, on Monday January 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum. An online registry is available at www.schoencanalstreet.com
