Elsie Gelpi Rubin

Elsie Marie Gelpi Rubin departed this life Friday September 17, 2010.She was the only child of Paul J. Gelpi, Jr. and Elsie Burg Gelpi, and the devoted wife of Dr. Wallace Rubin. She was born December 27, 1925 and lived her entire life in her precious New Orleans, refusing to leave even as Katrina approached. She was a professional dancer, actress,

model, and even TV weather girl until she married Dr. Rubin. She then devoted her life to her family, and to improving the lives of deaf children in the metro area. She is survived by her loving husband Wallace Rubin, her daughters Connie Rubin and Leslie Graf of New Orleans and Joyce Schwartz of D.C., her son-in-law Richard Schwartz, and her grandchildren Dr. Ryan Rubin of New Orleans, Justin Rubin of L.A.and Sara and Eric Schwartz of NYC. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at JACOB SCHOEN & SON Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans on Saturday,September 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery 4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001.
