

Estelle Hebert Rouquette passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 30, 2010 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.She was born on August 30, 1921 and was a life long resident of New Orleans. Daughter of the late Albert J. Hebert and Edith Hopkins Hebert, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband and loving father to their children Henry P. Rouquette, brothers Rev. Albert J. Hebert,S.M. and Bro.Celsus E. Hebert,F.S.C., sisters Marie L. Koehler and Sr. Mary Lawrence,Sisters of St. Joseph. Estelle is survived by her caring children: Robert E. Rouquette, his wife Sharon, their children Robert and Louise; Cherie M. Rouquette, Anne M. Rouquette, Henry P. Rouquette Jr. and his daughter Amanda. Estelle is also survived by her sister Ruth M. Thomas, brothers Charles J. Hebert, Paul J. Hebert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Estelle had a great zest for life, a deep love for her city, church, country and was a very caring and loving person. She enjoyed entertaining at her home of 65 years where her guests always felt welcome. Friends and family have always admired her counsel, wit, charm and dedication. She loved gardening, music and nature. She had a great love of knowledge, education, and books and was interested in many subjects. She volunteered widely in the community and was known for her generous nature.
Family and friends are invited to Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. for visitation from 9:00am to 11:30am on Friday December 3, 2010 followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 3368 Esplanade Ave. at 12:00 noon. Internment will follow at St. Louis #3 Cemeteries. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Christian Bros.
