

Ethelyn Thelma Lenfant, "Ettie", aged 89, passed away quietly on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Ms Lenfant was a resident of Madisonville, LA for the past 7 years. Previously, she had been a lifelong resident of New Orleans.
Born on March 1,1923, to parents Henry Julian Lenfant and Irma Ricca Lenfant, Ms Lenfant is survived by her loving sister Myrl Lenfant Cambias, nieces Cynthia Cambias Furnish, Barbara Cambias Clark, Jacqueline Cambias Peer, and nephew Seymour Richard Cambias. In addition Ms Lenfant is survived by 5 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews.
Ms Lenfant was a devoted and active member of the Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist. She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College and received a Masters Degree in
Social Work from Tulane University. Ms Lenfant's career encompassed many social work assignments with the State of Louisiana as a mental health counselor as well as the American Red Cross. She acted as a liaison between military personnel and their families during times of crisis. She was known to work selflessly and tirelessly on behalf of others. Ms Lenfant regularly insisted on working on holidays so that her colleagues could spend time with their families.
In addition to her church, Ms Lenfant enthusiastically participated in several professional organizations and with many dear friends, traveled around the world with curiosity, zest and energy.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 19th at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist. Located at 134 Polk St. in Lakeview, New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fourth Church of Christ,Scientist.
