

Francis Emanuel Stewart, a New Orleans native, went to Heaven on April 22, 2010 after an extended illness. He was 69 years old. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.
Francis was born on September 18, 1940. He graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1958. A devout Catholic, he served in the Air National Guard and the United States Air Force. He was known to others as Brother, Uncle Beau, Stew, Daddy, and his favorite, G-Paw. Francis was a proud and avid member of Alcoholics Anonymous and lived his life by the serenity prayer. He helped many others lead a life of sobriety. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. Francis loved living close to the ocean and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Michael Stewart, mother, Vera Fortado Stewart, and brother, Thomas Michael Stewart, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Michael and Aimee Stewart of Baton Rouge, Kara and Oscar Ortiz of Covington, and Carl Stewart of New Orleans; 6 grandchildren, Jacob and Sean Stewart, Antonio, Nathan, and Bella Ortiz, and Carl Matthew Stewart, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Roy Lombardo of Baltimore, Maryland; 7 nieces and nephews, and 12 great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Inurnment will be in St. Louis Cemetery #3. To express condolences, please visit www.schoencanalstreet.com.
