

Gloria Polit Lauland Kinchen, retired bookkeeper of John W. Dussouy Insurance Agency passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington. She was born on September 21, 1926 to the late Andrew J. and Thelma Ribes Polit. After living most of her life in New Orleans and Kenner, she resided in Abita Springs for the past two years. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd T. Lauland, Sr. and the late James A. Kinchen. Loving mother of Elwood L. Lauland and wife Catherine Hummel Lauland, Betty Lauland Wandell wife of Wayne F. Wandell, and Lloyd T. Lauland, Jr. husband of Linda Parker Lauland. Loving stepmother of Linda Kinchen Gray wife of Charles (Bo) Gray, Jeannie Kinchen Mayeaux wife of Robert Mayeaux, and Kathleen Kinchen Hasselbeck wife of Ronald Hasselbeck. Mrs. Kinchen is preceded in death by her sister Anna May Polit Delle. Survivors include seven grandchildren: Nicholas E. Lauland, Gretchen Wandell Spraul wife of William L. Spraul, Andrew A. Lauland, Jennifer Wandell Hachfeld wife of the late Brent M. Hachfeld, Scott F. Wandell, Parker A. Lauland and Preston S. Lauland. Survivors also include two great-grandchildren: Claire A. Hachfeld and Vivian E. Spraul, eleven step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren. During her life, Mrs. Kinchen was an active Prince Peace Lutheran Church, First English Lutheran Church in New Orleans and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mandeville. She was a member of Lutheran Women Missionary League, P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E.S (Ladies Social Group) and Aid Association for Lutherans (A.A.L.) and The Fun Bunch for Lunch Ladies Group. Cherished by all who knew her for her loving nature and selflessness. Fondly remembered as a superb Cajun and Creole cook.
