

Jacqueline Claire Nain Drouilhet, 79, died peacefully on July 6, 2013. Daughter of the late William J. “Patsy Boyle” Nain and late Hazel Long Nain, Jackie was born and lived in New Orleans until relocating to Houston in 2005. She graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School. She received a B.S. in Education from St. Mary’s Dominican College, where she wrote poetry and stories for the literary magazine. While teaching first grade, Jackie met and married her beloved husband of 35 years, the late John Charles “Charlie” Drouilhet, Jr., and was the devoted mother to their five children: Patricia Windham and Terence Skelton of Metairie, LA; Elizabeth Sampson of Gainesville, VA; Patrick William Drouilhet of Houston, TX; and the late Dr. John Charles Drouilhet, III; and proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Jackie continued to teach elementary school during her children’s early years and later enjoyed teaching water exercise classes and substitute teaching. She served as scout leader, room mother, and other volunteer roles with her children’s activities. She also volunteered with various community organizations. Jackie enjoyed writing and illustrating treasured poetry and stories for her family, often given on birthdays, usually featuring their beloved pets. She instilled in her family her faith, courage, the desire to learn and serve, as well as her love of pets and plants, creative arts and music, especially New Orleans Jazz. A memorial service will be held for Jackie on July 20, 2013 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. with a Rosary at 11:15 and Mass at Noon.
