Jean Hirth Burke

Jean Ann Hirth Burke, age 75 years, of Pearl River, LA died Friday, August 17, 2012, in Slidell, LA. She was a native of New Orleans and resided in Pearl River for the last 12 years. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Albert & Wegmann in New Orleans and Driftwood Pharmacy in Kenner, LA. She was a parishioner at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River, LA and a former parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Kenner. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed by her children; Jo Ann Burke, Donna Burke Hebert and husband, Salvador, and Melanie Burke. Also missing “Maw Maw” are James McCartt, Jr. and wife Tancy, Lauren McCartt, Salvador, Jr., Melissa Hebert and two great-grandchildren CarLeigh Jean Hebert and James Allen McCartt, III. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and very dear, close friends who were apart only by miles. She was the daughter of the late Evans and Cleo Hirth of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joseph V. Burke, Jr. and her brother and two sisters, Evans, June and Joyce, and their spouses. Visitation will be at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home on Canal Street in New Orleans, LA. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Friends and family may visit beginning at 9:00am. There will be a Catholic Mass in the chapel at 1:30pm, with the burial immediately following at Garden of Memories in Metairie, LA. Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
