Louis Joseph Hymel Jr.

Louis J. Hymel, Jr. passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011, at the age of 86 yrs. For the past 62 years, he has been the beloved husband of Claire Schroeder Hymel. Son of the late Louis J. Hymel, Sr. and Ottilia Bauer Hymel. Wonderful father of Linda H. Dupuy, Louis J. Hymel, III (Christi Reed), Sandra H. Jourdan (Michael). Proud grandfather of Michele D.Vanderbrook (Scott), Brian Dupuy (Brenda Moore); Chad, Ross, and Ella Jourdan; Kate, Louis Joseph, IV, and Caroline Hymel. Great-grandfather of Corinne Vanderbrook and Bode Dupuy. Twin brother of Louella Rini. Brother to Grace Keller, Gertrude Burke, and the late Gloria Miller, Andrew and George Hymel. A native and longtime resident of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 6 yrs. Parishioner of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Graduated from St. Aloysius High School and attended Tulane University. A WWII, U.S. Navy veteran of USS AFD #10. Worked 20 yrs in the railroad industry, retiring from I.C. Railroad. He worked an additional 24 yrs in the cement industry, retiring from Lone Star Industries. He was devoted to his faith and family and will be greatly missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until noon.
