

Narcisse Francis Otillio (Frank or Uncle “Fats”) passed away this Friday, January 20th in Carlsbad California. Frank was born on September 30th 1927, to Paul Frank Otillio and Lillian Juanita Reine of Louisiana. A truly straightforward, optimistic and wise, intelligent and kind, inquisitive and humble person – a motivator and coach for any of us who had the pleasure of his company. Frank was a native of New Orleans spending his childhood on Toulouse St. as part of a family of 9 (5 brothers, 2 sisters, Mom and Dad). Frank attended St. Anthony’s, St. Aloysius and Tulane University. Frank was well known for his talents and passion for the grid iron. He made the High School All Prep team in 1945, and while in the Army was both MVP and part of the winning team in the 1947 Tokyo hosted “Rice Bowl”. Frank also enjoyed singing, including playing the part of “Big Daddy” in a production of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'; other favorites included “Old Man River” and “Make Believe”. Frank married Louise Irene Harvey in 1964 and later had a Son, Troy David Otillio, before moving to San Jose (Willow Glen) California in 1966. There, he worked as a Research Scientist for Palo Alto Medical Research Foundation and later at Dionex Inc. and MAST Immunosystems Inc. In recent times Frank relocated to San Diego, where he spent his final years in the company of his son, daughter in law and three granddaughters. Frank is survived by his son, Troy David Otillio, daughter in law, Jennifer Lisa Laird Otillio, his three granddaughters, Desiree Camille Otillio, Camille Isabelle Otillio, and Isabelle Gabriella Otillio, his three remaining brothers, Hilary Walker Otillio (Metairie), Havard Hap Reine Otillio (Slidell), and Fr. Martin Peter Otillio, OP (Nigeria). Frank was preceded in death by his parents Paul Frank Otillio and Lillian Juanita Reine, his siblings Lillian Juanita Otillio Bishop, Gloria Marie Otillio Pilotte, Paul Frank Otillio and Vera Clare Otillio. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the celebration of his life (Viewing and Funeral Mass) this Saturday, January 28th at 11am at St. Anthony’s on Canal St, with reception to follow.
