Mrs. Nearestine Jeanne Geary Baird

Nearestine Jeanne Geary Baird passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the age of 91. Born in New Orleans on a Friday, June 20, 1919 she graduated from Sacred Heart. She was the loving wife of Richard Kelly Baird Sr for 50 years. Devoted, loving mother of her children Kathleen Elizabeth Rapp and Richard Kelly Baird Jr. Grandmother of Kelly Baird, Raquel Grenier, Spencer Baird, Emily Southwell, Aimee Simmons, and Richard Kelly Baird III and was blessed with 10 loving great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Eugene Geary and Nearestine Geary and her brother Eugene Geary Jr. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church for over 50 years and after Katrina took that away she moved to Metairie and started anew in her new home in St. Benilde Parish in Metairie. She was the ideal stay at home mom. She never had an unkind word to say, had the patience of a Saint and will be dearly missed by all she touched and all who ate her delicious cooking. Mom was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping and dining out at New Orleans and Metairie's finest restaurants. Nearestine was thankful for God Almighty for allowing her to be here for so long and enjoying a great life on Earth and extends love and prayers to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all her friends, and wishes them all the best of everything. Family and friends invited to the visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, Saturday October 30th, with a Funeral Mass following at 12:00 noon at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA with interment in St. Patrick # 2 Cemetery.
