

Stephen Joshua Cotton, 29, left this earth on Saturday, June 22, 2013. He was born on March 7, 1984, in Lutcher, La. He was a resident of New Orleans. Stephen is the son of the late Stephen Joseph Cotton (1952-1985) and Edgar and Freda Cretin of Covington. He attended Northlake Christian School, St Paul's, graduated from Mandeville High, and attended college at BRCC. A talented musician, he played back-up for bands, wrote a musical score for a play, performed weddings, as well as at local musical venues. He was accomplished on the violin, mandolin, guitar, cello, viola, banjo, and drums. He was an electrician, carpenter, and jack-of-all trades. He was a skilled skateboarder and snowboarder. Stephen actively rescued dogs, cats, and people. His generosity never turned down a needy person. He is survived by his long-time canine companion, Faye Valentine of 8 years. He is also survived by his parents, Eddie and Freda Cretin of Covington; his sister, Christine Brouillette of Mandeville; four brothers: Edgar Cretin III of Baton Rouge, Chris Cretin of Covington, Kurt Cotton of Oakland, CA, and Cpl Blake Cretin, USMC, of Twentynine Palms, CA; five in-laws: Kris Brouillette, Melissa Cretin, Ruthie Tate-Cotton, Susan Cretin, and Anne Vincent; six nieces and nephews: Madeleine, Jackson, Grant, and Luke Cretin, Anna and Evan Brouillette. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend an evening visitation at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; on Friday, June 28 2013 from 6:00 pm. until 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Until service time. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Cotton cemetery in Crestview, FL next to his father, Steven Joseph Cotton.
