

Vinca died peacefully on Friday October 28, 2011 at the age of 76. She was a charter parishioner of St. Angela Merici Parish. She proudly graduated from St. Mary’s Domincan HS (VERITAS) and Loyola University. She lived her life as a devoted Catholic, loving mother, loyal friend, and tireless community volunteer. As a Scout volunteer she was awarded “Order of the Buffalo”. A past president and member of the East Jefferson Hospital Auxiliary she was honored with the “Great Lady Award”, a past president and member of Metairie Women’s Club she was honored as the “Outstanding Women of the Year”. She was a past president and Lifetime Member of the Whitney Heights Garden Club and an Accredited Flower Show Judge. She was a Member of Strive, Inc. She received honors from Cancer Survivors and proudly received the “Order of St. Louis Medal” from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for her work at St. Angela. She retired from New York Life. She was preceded in death by her son, Merrick F. Delesdernier, her parents Rudolf and Frances Carevich. Beloved sister of Mary Carevich, Beloved mother of Mark Delesdernier, III and his wife Melanie O. Delesdernier and Michael R. Delesdernier and his wife Mary Z. Delesdernier. Proud grandmother of Mark Delesdernier IV, and his wife Elizabeth M. Delesdernier, Marshall W. Delesdernier, Nicole F. Delesdernier, Julia E. Delesdernier, Michael J. Delesdernier. Beloved god mother of Rosanne Walle. She will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation from the New Orleans home of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal St. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A visitation and funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Church on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with funeral mass to be celebrated at Noon. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de’ Paul Cemetery.
