

William M. “Pete” Stamps died peacefully on November 28, 2012 following complications of heart surgery. The family is grateful to the physicians, nurses and health care providers at Touro Infirmary and Kindred Hospital, New Orleans, LA for their compassionate care. Pete is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene Bates Stamps, daughter Pamela Stamps Mitchell, grandson Joshua Kevin Mitchell (Jessica), great granddaughter Addison, niece Suzanne Stamps Rheinstein, nephew Joseph Odom Stamps and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Odom and Dora Webb Stamps, brothers Jesse Odom Jr. and Joseph Webb Stamps and son William Marcus Stamps. He was born in Natalbany, LA and moved to New Orleans as a young child. Pete attended Tulane University and University of Mississippi achieving a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1950 from the University of Mississippi. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953. Pete served the local electrical and lighting business community for over 50 years. He was a member emeritus of the New Orleans Electrical Association. He is a member, since childhood of the Carrolton United Methodist Church, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Carrolton United Methodist Church or your favorite charity in Pete’s name.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday December 1st at 11am at Carrolton United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10am until service time.
