OBITUARY

Hoby Lewis Crump

August 9, 1961May 24, 2018

Hoby Lewis Crump 56, of New Plymouth, Idaho, died May 24th, 2018, in New Plymouth, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. Hoby was born in Weiser, Idaho, on August 9th, 1961, to Rudolph Lavern Crump and Rosalie Iva (nee) Lang. Hoby was an avid rock hound and loved using his metal detector. He would find what the rest of us thought was an ordinary rock, only to have him explain it was a scraping tool form the Paleo Period. He taught himself to make arrow heads from different types of bone or rocks, eventually making beautiful arrow heads from Obsidian, using methods thousands of years old. He made beautiful walking sticks, from Sumac and Black Walnut. He loved ‘the hunt’ and his countless collections were his pride and joy. His knowledge of most things old was truly amazing. He often joked that he was born in the wrong century. Hoby was a free spirit, full of artistic talent, who never knew a stranger and was drawn to people that needed help. If you needed help with anything mechanical, all you needed was to ask. If you couldn’t find or afford a part for that old truck, he would figure out a way to make it. He was so happy when riding his motorcycle. His family and friends find great comfort knowing he was doing something he loved when he died. Hoby’s friends were such a huge part of his life and continue to be great friends and help to his mother and family. Thank you, Barry, Carson, Craig, Eric, Jason S., Justin D., Justin S., Larry L., Larry S., Rick P., Sean S., Steve D., and Todd S. A special thanks to Patsy Shigeta for staying with mom until family members could make the trip home. Hoby is survived by his mother Rosalie, of New Plymouth, sister Sandi Meyer and husband Ken of Hermiston, OR., brother Dan Crump and wife Stephanie of Kelso, WA., and brother Alan Crump of Gresham, OR; numerous aunt and uncles he loved and admired; cousins who all remember so many good times together; and nieces and nephews he enjoyed spending time with. Hoby was preceded in death by his dad, Rudy, a cousin Cathie, nieces Ashely and Lera and longtime companion Pam. A celebration of his life will be held August 4th, 2018 in New Plymouth, Idaho. Hoby was the kind of guy that would drop everything if you called and needed a hand! he knew a little bit about everything and a lot about antiques, indian weapons, rocks, most collectables, hoby was one of the hardest working, put everything you got into it people ive known. he had a great love for music of all kinds, we went to see tool together a few months ago (his fav band) and had a blast! hoby had good manors, im sure his mother rosalee had a lot to do with!
