

Howard Fisher was born May 19, 1923 in New Plymouth, ID to Jake and Laura Fisher. Howard grew up on a farm one mile east of New Plymouth. He died in Fruitland, ID on Oct. 24, 2017. Howard had a brother, Loren, and a sister, Florence, who both preceded him in death.
Howard was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Plymouth. His Christian faith remained strong throughout his life and gave him continual peace and comfort.
After graduating high school in 1941 Howard had several jobs while attending Boise Business College; he then returned to New Plymouth and began farming with his dad.
Howard married Betty Froembgen on April 27, 1946 In Snohomish, WA. For 40 years they lived and worked on a farm, raising their family. Howard also worked for the Agricultural Stabilization Committee in Payette and Top Canning in New Plymouth. Driving school bus for the New Plymouth School District was one of his favorite jobs; he really enjoyed the kids so much. After selling the milk cows in 1975 he worked as a field man for American Fine Foods in Payette for about 15 years.
Howard and Betty spent 18 winters in Arizona and enjoyed summer Good Sam Club camping trips. Howard was very active in the community including serving on the Payette Valley Co-op board, in the Kiwanis Club, with the Senior Citizen Center and on the Parkview Cemetery board.
In April 2016 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, a highlight of their life together. Howard and Betty always put family first and rarely missed a significant event in the lives of their family.
Howard is survived by his wife Betty and children Kathy (Steve) Long of Nampa, Bob (Connie) Fisher of Spokane, WA, Dick (Susan) Fisher of New Plymouth and Linda (Oscar) Berlanga of Bend, OR; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Edgewood and Heart n’ Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Howard.
Funeral service for Howard will be held at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 329 S Plymouth Ave, New Plymouth at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, with interment following at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth. A viewing and visitation will be held at Shaffer-Jensen, New Plymouth, on Friday, Nov. 3rd between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m.
