
Amie Robertson Hollingsworth Taney, born Westchester, PA, September 27, 1921, passed peacefully January 3, 2012, Darien, CT. Beloved wife of J. Charles Taney, II (deceased). Survived by eight children, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with two more due this year. University of Pennsylvania class of 1943; Masters in Education, Sarah Lawrence Bank Street College (1972). Guidance counselor at St. Barnabas (Bronx, NY) and Our Lady of Victory (Dobbs Ferry, NY), followed by work as college guidance consultant. Volunteered in college guidance at Truman High School and Salesian Prep. Also long-time volunteer at pregnancy care center New Rochelle. Founded and attended a Prayer Group in Westport, CT that began in the mid-1950’s and still meets today. Enthusiastic student of Spanish language classes, Iona College. Avid traveler. Proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Played for the first women’s lacrosse team at University of Pennsylvania as well as field hockey. Played hardball, not softball, and had a terrific batting average. Visiting will be on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. at the George T. Davis Funeral Home, 14 le Count Place, New Rochelle, NY.
