
Esther Tietz, 93, of Forest Hills, NY and most recently of New Rochelle, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday July 12, 2012. She was the loving mother of Michael and his wife Amy, daughter Monica and her husband Peter, and “Oma” to grandchildren Jeremy, Amanda and Benjamin. Esther is survived by her sister Aviva Dagan and brother-in-law Shlomo in Israel; three nieces in Israel; in-laws and 5 nieces and nephews in Holland, England and Scotland. Esther was born in Košice, Czechoslovakia in 1919. She served in the Israeli Defense Forces and fought in the Israeli War of Independence in 1947–1948. After meeting her late husband Albert U. Tietz in Jerusalem, they married in Neuilly, France and immigrated to the United States in 1949. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her father Isaak, her mother Fanny, and her brother Josef in the Holocaust. The family will receive visitors this Saturday, July 21 at the home of Michael and Amy Tietz at 41 Disbrow Circle, New Rochelle, NY 10804 for a memorial and remembrance at noon, followed by visitation until 5 p.m.
