Dearest Cousins Back East,

For many months I have been fantasizing about a road trip to visit family in far off locations. I could feel my Auntie Lorraine so strongly calling me home. Yet nothing materialized except my longing to connect with the land where I was raised and the people who knew me then. I am deeply saddened by the distance between us. Forgive me for not being able to return home at this time.Her spirit is ubiquitous now and I feel she speaks with me in my grief of missing her. I did a personal memorial walk for her as soon as I heard she had dropped her earthly robe. That was Jun 11. All the nuances that she contained as such an extraordinary person remain with me as she coalesces into her ancestral afterlife. I honor her and remember times we shared long ago and more recently when she came to the Seattle area after my sweet Father's passing in 2005. It was so good to be together then, and feel her exquisite love and hear her radiant laughter. Much of what I wanted to share with her in these last couple of years was my writing, my poetry and my art. Now if things move forward as I wish, and Our Heavenly Father and the Goddess willing, I will dedicate my first chapbook of poetry to Lorraine. I know how grief changes our lives and I send my sincere support and will behold you, and invoke you, in my prayers for a long time to come. I was so saddened to hear of Auntie Lorraine passing. She was such a kind, loving soul, a bright light that I will always remember very fondly. The fantastic times we spent with her, Uncle Ed and the whole family growing up are in my forever memory. Love you all-may God give you peace and comfort to guide you at this time of loss...
