Callie Mae Venable

Callimae Bailey Venable was born April 10, 1926 and passed away March 31, 2014 at the Claiborne County Nursing Home. She trusted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and was a life-long faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved making scrapbooks for her children, working in her garden in the great outdoors, cooking for others, taking care of her family and her church. But most of all, she loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, She was preceded in death by her husband James Roy Venable, her parents Cole and Gertrude Bailey, brothers William Howard (Bus), Harold, Lynn and Don Bailey.

She is survived by her children Douglas and Brenda Venable of Tazewell, Tennessee; Glenda and Ken Howerton of Lone Jack, Missouri; Wanda and Larry Minton of Dalzell, South Carolina; James Venable of Berkley, California; Billy and Debbie Venable of Tazewell, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and his wife Gerald and Shirley Bailey; sisters-in-law Dina Bailey, Betty Duncan and Wanda Wilson. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to Claiborne County Nursing Home for the continued tender loving care they delivered over the years.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday April 5, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home followed by services in the chapel. Internment in the Fairview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Paul Collingsworth, Rev. John Lewis, and Rev. John Hall. Music will be provided by the Pleasant View Church Choir. Graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Lonnie D. Dalton with music provided by The Revelations Quartet. Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers, The Deacons of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
