Carolyn Ann Diamond Crutchfield of Tazewell, Tennessee, was born November 23, 1945, and passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on September 13, 2026. Better known to so many as “Mimi,” Carolyn professed her faith in Christ at an early age and fulfilled her role as a pastor’s wife for many, many years serving quietly beside her husband and helping to strengthen his ministry and serve the churches’ families.
At the time of her passing, she was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Luttrell, Tennessee. Carolyn worked for the Claiborne County School System for 30+ years, most of which were served as a Cosmetology instructor at Claiborne County High School. After her retirement from teaching, she helped her husband and brother-in-law run the Subway restaurant in Tazewell.
Carolyn is preceded in death by parents Ed (Mary) Diamond and Eliza Kathleen (Leo) Bridges; her husband and true love of 47 years, Raymond Gene Crutchfield; infant son Crutchfield; sister Berdie Diamond Cooke, and brothers-in-law Gary Crutchfield, Richard Crutchfield, and Tom Cooke.
She is survived by daughter Kelly (Steve) Hayes, sons Michael (Rebecca) Crutchfield, and Tim Crutchfield; grandchildren Chelsea (Jimmy Brunke) Day, Brooke Day, Caleb (Hannah) Crutchfield, Dylan (Heather) Hayes, Shayne (Michelle) Crutchfield, Chloë (Austin Reeves) Crutchfield, and Slone (Horlando) Sanchez; great-grandchildren Lea Brunke, Avery Brunke, Marilyn Sanchez, Sophia Hayes, Claire Hayes, Grace Crutchfield, Mateo Sanchez, Olivia Hayes, and Annalise Crutchfield; and special brother-in-law Burgin (Jeanne) Crutchfield.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell with funeral on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10 am with Rev. Jerry Epperson officiating and music by Barbara Hatfield. Graveside service will follow at Irish Cemetery in Tazewell. Pallbearers are Burgin Crutchfield, Caleb Crutchfield, Dylan Hayes, Shayne Crutchfield, Jimmy Brunke, Horlando Sanchez, Jessie Seal, and Austin Reeves.
