

He was saved at a young age and is a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He retired in 2001 but continued to farm until the end. While some knew him as "Goat", others knew him as Pap. He loved the outdoors. He could often be found on the 4-wheeler or on the river. He had many fishing trips with his daughter and friends. He also conducted many "rescues" of his beloved granddaughter and Ninnie from the farm adventures.
Carson was preceded in death by his parents, Sneed and Eula (Lanham) Long.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Roberts Long; children Cindy Long Widner of New Tazewell, TN and Carson Wayne Long II (Jody) and wife Doris of Huntsville, Ohio; grandchildren Karley Widner of New Tazewell, TN, Carson Wayne Long III (Trey) and wife Savannah, Cody Long, and Zachery Long of Ohio; great grandchildren Gracelyn, Skyla, and Saylor of Ohio; beloved cousin, Ann Myers; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday May 21, 2026 from 11 AM until 1 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Liberty Cemetery. Rev. Mitchell Keck, Rev. Eric Keck, and Johnny Dillard officiating. Singer Dennis Buchanan.
