

Charles “Leon” Stansberry was born in Lone Mountain, TN on July 15, 1935 to the late Harp and Dova (Helton) Stansberry. He departed this life on August 15, 2025 at home with his family. He was saved at his workplace, Norris Homes, in Bean Station, TN many years ago. In 1958, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. He held various jobs throughout his life, mainly as a cabinetmaker, taking great pride in the work he accomplished. He enjoyed cheering on the University of Tennessee football and basketball teams, along with being an avid fisherman, coon hunter, Jeff Gordon and dirt late model racing fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margie (Campbell) Stansberry; daughter-in-law, Karen Suzanne (Seals) Stansberry; parents, Harp and Dova Stansberry; sisters, Mabel Meyers, Christine Lewis, and Shirley Sulfridge.
He is survived by his son, Chad Stansberry; sisters, Helen Lakins and Bobbie Loop; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all caregivers, and Amedysis Hospice for all their love and care.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. Rev. Tommy Louthan will be officiating. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. in the Fairview Cemetery.
Anyone wishing to follow in procession to the cemetery, please meet at Coffey Funeral Home by 9:30 A.M.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Gilpin, Lowell Harvey, Dave Jordon, Dylan Murray, Gary Stansberry, and Wesley Womack. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SMMS Volleyball in honor of Leon Stansberry ℅ Chad Stansberry, PO Box 653 Tazewell, TN 37879.
