

Mr. Delbert Sambo Brooks age 82 of Tazewell died Saturday October23, 2010 in his home. He was born September 21, 1928 to Buford and Toma Brooks in Tazewell. He Attended school in Tazewell and married Doris June England October 14, 1950 four days before he left to serve his country in the Korean war. He returned to Tazewell after two years in the Army, where they had their first child. They moved to Monroe, Michigan where they resided for three years and had their other three children. He then returned to Tazewell to raise his family and he eventually opened Factory Outlet Pontoons in 1977. In 1986 he went on to become co-owner of Straight Creek Boat Dock. While raising his family in Tazewell, he served as mayor as well as city councilman. He was also a member of the Claiborne county Hospital board for many years. Preceded in death by his parents , brother Ralph Brooks sister Marvel Johnson and son Terry Lynn Brooks.
He is survived by wife Doris
son David Winton Brooks
daughters: Diana(Sissy) Harris and Kathy Brooks Dooley
seven Grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
The family will receive friends Sunday October 24 from 5-8pm in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday October 25 at 2:00pm in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in New Tazewell. Burial in the Fairview cemetery with military honors.
