Dixie Diane Gray

Dixie was of the Baptist faith and was saved at a young age at Clouds Memorial Baptist Church. She spent many years singing with the Goins Chapel Quartet. Dixie played basketball for Claiborne County High School and was a lifelong Lady Vols basketball fan. She started her work career at G&F Grocery and furthered her career at Citizens Bank, where she worked for over 40 years, starting as a teller and moving to customer service. When not at the bank, she could be found working hard and gardening on the family farm. Dixie was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Dana and Beulah Day; brothers, Shirla and Harold Day; and husband of 60 years, Mack Gray.

Dixie is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Greg) Watson, Misty (Jason) Vass, and loved like a daughter, Melissa (Phillip) Shockley; grandchildren, Samantha (Adam) Bates, Joseph (Kassie) Watson, Makena and Alyssa Vass; great-grandchildren, Emma, Brycen, and Josie Watson; loving caregivers, Karen Keck, Rhonda Collingsworth, Vivian Mayes, and David and Mata Banks and sons; as well as a host of nephews and nieces, other family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Smoky Mountain Hospice for their astounding care and support.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with funeral to follow at 7:00 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Fairview Cemetery. Anyone wishing to follow in procession is asked to be at Coffey Funeral Home by 10:30 AM.
