Kay Pressnell Munsey, age 75, passed away on August 22, 2026. Born February 22, 1951, Kay lived a life centered around the people she loved most—her family. Kay was saved at an early age and spent a lot of her life at Duncans Chapel Church.
Kay shared 52 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jackie Munsey. Together they built a life and family filled with memories that will continue to be cherished for generations.
Kay found joy in the simple things that made a house feel like home. She loved crafting and canning, using her hands to create things for the people she loved. Whether she was working on a new craft or putting up something from the kitchen to enjoy later, there was always a little bit of Kay’s love in what she made.
She was also a devoted Tennessee Volunteers fan and loved cheering on her Vols. Orange was more than just a color when game day came around. Her love for Tennessee football brought plenty of excitement, cheering, and memories that her family will smile about for years to come.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie Munsey; her children, Dana Webber (Buck) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Andy Munsey (Lauren) of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, DJ Bradley (Kenzie), Harrison Munsey, and Jack Munsey; and her precious great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rain.
Kay is also survived by her brother, Larry Pressnell (Pam), as well as her nieces and nephews, Rusty Munsey (Melinda), Travis Pressnell (Erica), Michael Pressnell (Jill), and Jennifer Hall (John), along with many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Edith Pressnell; her mother- and father-in-law, Jack and Hazel Munsey; her brother-in-law, Ronnie Munsey; her sister-in-law, Neta Munsey; and her nephew, Tim Munsey.
More than the names and dates that tell the story of a life, Kay’s legacy can be found in the family she loved and the memories she leaves behind. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and so much more to those who knew her.
Her family will carry her with them—in the stories they tell, the traditions they continue, the things made by her hands, the recipes passed down, every Tennessee game that brings back a memory, and all the little moments when she suddenly feels close again.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with funeral to follow at 7:00 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Burial will be on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Shoemaker Cemetery. Anyone wishing to follow in procession is asked to be at the funeral home by 10:15 Thursday morning.
