

Edna Ruth Hawkins Lambert, 79 of Ridgeland, MS, passed away on October 15, 2025. She was born on March 23, 1946 in Monroe, MI and is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Glenn and Kate Della Mink of Monroe, MI and sisters, Peggy Lambert of Shawanee, TN; Kathy Evans of Monroe, MI; and cousin, Lois Welch of Monroe, MI.
Edna graduated from Monroe County High School in 1964. She started out as a switchboard operator with Michigan Bell, worked her way up to manager/training with ATT and retired after 30 years in Roswell, GA. Edna first married Robert Edward Hawkins of CA (divorced) and had one son, whom she adored and was devoted in his formative years.
Once her son, was grown, she married Troy David Lambert of Monroe, MI and attended Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, MI. Once her husband passed away, she moved to Ridgeland, MS to be near her son, his wife and her granddaughter. There she attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Edna served in various roles for WMU, Sunday School, VBS and Operation Christmas Child throughout her life. She loved to share the word of Jesus and teach others how to witness and be in missions. She was also a member of the DAR.
Edna leaves behind her son, Gary Glenn Hawkins (Amy Kay Ellis) and granddaughter Erin Elizabeth Hawkins of Madison, MS; her sister Ann Watson (Jimmy) of Lenoir City, TN and a niece, Janet Struth (Sam) of Monroe, MI. and cousin Laura Gerweck of Ann Arbor, MI. She also leaves behind nephews David (Johanna) of Clearwater, FL and Jim (Michelle) of Bluford, IL and many great nieces and great nephews.
Her visitation and funeral will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Coffey Funeral Home, the funeral will be at 12:00 PM, with interment to follow at the Irish Cemetery in Tazewell, TN. Memorial gifts may be made to The Gideon’s International.
