Ernest Willie Young

Ernest retired from Ford Motor Company in 1985, the UAW local 898, Rawsonville Plant in Ypsilanti, MI. He proudly served his country by joining the Army. As often as he could Ernest would be found on the water fishing. More than anything Ernest loved his family, he was the one who organized the reunions and get togethers. Every Sunday he watched the NASCAR Races and enjoyed playing setback with his buddies at the senior citizen's building. Ernest was also known by his neighbors and peers as the "Mayor of Springdale". Ernest was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, and husband. He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the honor to have known him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oma and Leonard Young. Six brothers Lenville, Roy, Ray, Glen, Otis Young, and Luke Buell. One sister Meddie Young. One granddaughter Jamie Scott. One Great Granddaughter Cheyenne Scott. One Son-in-Law Clyde Scott.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Lois Young. Three Children Loretta Scott, Steve (Diane) Young, and Dennis Young. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Chris Batey, Eric (Terra) Young, Rachel (Joseph) Davis, Daniel Young, and Alex (Cierra) Lillie. Thirteen Great Grandchildren Dayontay and Daylen Williams, Eli, Skylar, and Addison Young, Kallie and Nolan Davis, Olivia, Raelynn, and Cameron Young, A.J., Madison, and Makenzie Lillie. One Great Great Grandson Laiken Chadwell. Two Brothers Lawrence and James Young. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends

The family will receive friends on Sunday August 9, 2026 from 5 until 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. There will be a second receiving of friends on Monday August 10, 2026 from 12 until 2 PM at Coffey Funeral Home with the funeral service to start at 2 PM. A graveside service will follow in the Hack Hurst Evans Cemetery with military honors.
