He was a hardworking man who spent 30 years at England Furniture before retiring. He believed in putting in an honest day’s work, providing for his family, and never being afraid to get his hands dirty.
When he wasn’t working, you could usually find him riding four-wheelers, fishing, watching Alabama football or Nascar, or sitting back with a nice cold Budweiser. Those were some of the things that brought him the most joy. But, above all, one of the greatest joys of his life was being a grandpa. He loved his grandchildren dearly and treasured every chance he got to spend time with them. Being a “Papaw” brought him a kind of happiness that was easy to see.
He was funny, kind, stubborn at times, and always had something to say. He wasn’t a perfect man, and he’d probably be the first one to tell you that. But he loved his family in his own way, and over the years we shared a lot of laughs, a lot of memories, and plenty of good times that we’ll always hold close to our hearts.
He made friends wherever he went and was well liked by so many people. Whether you knew him for years or just met him, chances are he left an impression. We’ll miss hearing his jokes, his stories, his opinions about Alabama football, and seeing him enjoy the simple things in life. His memory will live on through the people who loved him, and he’ll never be forgotten.
And as we always say, “If you want to walk the heavenly streets of gold, you gotta know the password” ‘Roll, Tide, Roll’"
