Imogene Purkey Clark age 82 of Bean Station, TN, was born February 26, 1936 to Rev. Roy Purkey and Frances Trent. Imogene passed away on October 19, 2018. She was saved at an early age and was attending New Hope Penacostal Church in Bean Station. Imogene was an avid gardener and had a green thumb, blooming flowers were among her favorite. She devoted her life to her family and was proud to be a great, great grandmother. Imogene was preceded in death by her husband Ewing Hurley Gibson, daughter Joyce Ramsey and husband Claude Ramsey, son Buster Bill Gibson, siblings Sherman Roy Purkey, Margaret Williams, and James Purkey.
She is survived by daughter Venus Gibson. Grandsons Jeffrey Lemons, Ewing Curtis Gibson and Adam Ramsey. Granddaughters Amy Combs, Robin Kraft, Jill Shelton, and Kellie Harmon. Seven great grandchildren. Nine great, great grandchildren. Siblings Rev. Danny Purkey, Bob Purkey, Doris Vaughn, Ann Foshie, Carolyn Drinnon, Kay Shockley, Stella Jo Rich, and Dolly Moore. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday October 23rd from 5 until 7 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. The funeral service will be held Wednesday October 24th at 11 AM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel in Tazewell, a graveside service will follow in the Ramsey-Payne Cemetery.
