Joe B. Evans

Mr. Joe B. Evans age 75 of Tazewell, TN was born January 20, 1938 and passed away March 11, 2013 at the Claiborne County Hospital. He was retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. He started with Claiborne County Sheriff Department in 1984 New Tazewell Police Department from 1988 until 2010. He was well known as the “Candy Cop” while with the New Tazewell Police Department. Out of the goodness of his heart, he took as his personal project, giving “Tootsie Pops” to children in order for them to have trust in the Law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Ladd and Jeff Evans; infant sister; brothers, Roy & Harvey Evans, John Robertson; Sisters, Shirley Spence, Bonnie Stevens, Lois Reeves, Jois Gomes, Helen Robertson, step-daughter, Amy Brooks.

He is survived by his wife: Sylvia Cosby Evans of Tazewell, TN

Son: Joe (Melody) Evans of Mesa, Arizonia

Benjamin Joseph(Holly “Libby”) Evans of New Tazewell, TN

Luke (Julia) Evans of Tazewell, TN

Daughter: Holly Evans of Maryville, TN

Step-Daughter: Melissa “Missy” Brooks Morelock of Tazewell, TN

Grandchildren: Jessie, C.J., Kerry, Mikitia , Nick, Mikaela, Lake, Cory, Megan, Vanessa, Ashley, Alyssa, Macy, Luke JR, Sydney, Seth, Anna Grayce.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P.M. Thursday night at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Funeral service 11:00 A.M. Friday March 15, 2013 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Cave Springs Cemetery with Military Honors.
