Karen L Houston

Karen Louise Houston, age 80, of Tazewell, TN, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Schmied of Midland, OH and great grandson, Andrew Brooks. Karen graduated from Blanchester High School in 1961 where she was the Sweetheart Queen. She served as pianist at West Cumberland Baptist Church in her early adulthood and retired as the Director of Claiborne County Health Department in 2001. Karen is survived by her very special friend, Glen Mullins of Tazewell, TN, daughter, Geri Marcum (Keith), of Ewing, VA, son, Jay Partin (Cathy) of Ewing, VA, grandchildren, Chastity Brooks Lee (James) of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah Brooks (Derek Huling) of Washington, D.C., Joshua Partin, (Lita), of Middlesboro, KY, Kaitlin Herrell (Kenny), of Middlesboro, KY, brother, Lee Schmied (Edna) of Sugar Tree Ridge, OH sister, Gerry Bentley of Sacramento, CA, great-grandchildren, Sarah Bradley, Jaden Horton, Addison Horton, McKenlee Herrell, Jaxon Partin, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
