Matilda Brooks

Mrs. Matilda Jane “Tootsie” Brooks of Harrogate, TN was born April 15, 1922 and passed away July 10, 2011 in Angola, Indiana at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl D. Brooks; parents Mr. and Mrs. James Morgan Hurst; brothers, Edward Hurst and Frank J. Hurst; sisters, Mossie Hurst, Florence E. Hurst, Flossie Haynes, Gloria Ann Grubb; special uncle, LaFate Portwood. She was a member of the Harrogate First Baptist Church and Shawanee Order of the Eastern Star. She worked in the Claiborne County School system for many years at both Ellen Myers School and H.Y. Livesay Middle School. She was a devoted and loving spouse of 37 years before Earl passing in 1989; she was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her Sons: Dr. & Mrs. Earl D. (Melanie) Brooks of Angola, Indiana

Mr. & Mrs. Clifford R. ( Brenda) Jones of Shephardsville, Ky

Five Grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 P.M. Wednesday July 13, 2011 at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate with funeral service to follow at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday night in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the Harrogate Cemetery.
