Richard Glenn Carney

Richard Glenn Carney, age 56, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Richard was a 1986 graduate of Carter High School, then served 4 years in the Navy. Following his leave from active-duty Richard joined the Navy Reserve to continue to proudly serve his country.

He is survived by his wife Jill Williams Carney, his in-laws Jack and Brenda Williams, brother-in-law Brian Williams (and family). Family was not just blood relation to Richard, he had an extended family he loved and treasured at Straight Creek Marina where he resided. He is also survived by his parents and three sisters.

To most that knew Richard he would best be described as a quiet man, but once you got to know him you realized what a wonderful person he was. He loved helping others, never got into anyone's business, loved his fishing, running across the lake for dinner, and sitting on his front porch during the off-season having conversations with everyone. The genuine love he showed for those he cared about will be so greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.

There will be a military service at 2 PM on Sunday February 2, 2025 at Straight Creek Marina, 775 Straight Creek Dock Rd New Tazewell TN 37825. Following the military service the family will receive friends until 6 PM. The family welcomes anyone to speak about Richard or share any special memories they have during this time.
