Roger was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Shirley Jean Daniels, who preceded him in death just nine months ago. Shirley was his entire world, and his unwavering love for her only grew stronger; he held her memory close to his heart every single day they were apart. A man of quiet strength, Roger was a hard worker from his earliest days, growing up working on the family farm alongside his brothers and sisters before dedicating many years to factory work. He was never one for traveling or going many places, choosing instead a quiet, reserved life centered around the comfort of his own home. Following his retirement, he and Shirley spent countless hours together mowing lawns—a simple passion they truly loved sharing side-by-side. Above all else, Roger cherished the peaceful moments spent at home with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; his parents, Bruce and Lena (Brown) Daniels; his grandparents, Duff and Cornie Daniels, and Charlie and Liza Brown; his sisters, Axie Daniels, Oleen Daniels, and Marlene Fultz; his brothers, Winford Daniels and Bruce Daniels Jr.; his brother-in-law, Ancil Cosby; and his sister-in-law, Bertha Daniels.
He is survived by his loving children: daughters Samantha Evans and Amanda Miracle, and son Roger "Boogie" Daniels Jr. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Will Hatfield, Victoria Davis, McKenzie Hatfield, Chestin Mullins, and Korbin Miracle. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Bessie) Daniels and Clyde Daniels; his sisters, Brenda Cosby, Jennette (Jackie) Brown, and Janice (Don) Williams; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 27, 2026. Anyone wishing to follow in procession is asked to be at Coffey Funeral Home by 9:30 AM.
