

Violet Nadio Brooks, age 89, was born on May 27, 1937, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2026, with her family by her side. She was saved at the age of 10 years old at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She ran a daycare for several years where she took care of several children during that time. She had a way of showing love that made her so special.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed Brooks; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Gloria Hipshire; grandson, Joshua Carnes; father and mother, Jasper and Viola Brooks; brothers, Lawrence, Kenneth, Dee and Tony Brooks; sisters, Edith Smith, Marie Wolford, and infant sister, Edna Brooks.
She is survived by her sister, Inez Davis; son, Paul and wife Louise Hipshire; daughter, Diana Hurst; grandchildren, David Hipshire, Nichole McCann, Chris Hipshire, Amy Keck, Justin Carnes; great-grandchildren, Bradley Hipshire, Isaiah Hipshire, Austin McCann, Viola McCann, Adison Hipshire, Caden Hipshire, Erica Keck, Eli Keck, Emma Keck, Jasper Carnes, Jameson Carnes, Grace Carnes, Raylan Carnes; great-great-grandchild, Talen Hipshire; as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family will have a private viewing on Monday, October 5, 2026. Graveside service will be in the Bethel Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Anyone wishing to follow in procession is asked to be at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell by 2:30 PM, or are welcome to meet at the cemetery.
