Abraham Denowitz passed away at his home in New York City’s Upper East Side on September 21, 2020, at the age of 94. Born in Poland, Abe was a lifelong and proud New Yorker. A graduate of City College, he worked for the NYS Tax Department until his retirement, when he began volunteering with the Central Park Conservancy and the soup kitchen at Temple Shaaray Tefila where he toiled joyfully for more than thirty years. His passions were Central Park, music, the New York Mets and his family: his adored and adoring wife Rita; his children Anne Pae, Debbie Leon, and Michael Denowitz(deceased), son-in-law Bob Leon; his four grandchildren, Sarah, Stefan, John, and Daniel; his siblings, Irving Denowitz (deceased) and Evelyn Steiner; and his many nieces and nephews. A friend to all, Abe was a generous and gentle soul. Please honor his life with a donation to the Central Park Conservancy, the soup kitchen at Temple Shaaray Tefila or any organization that cares for those in need. Or just give someone you love a hug.
