Adam Nicholas Dancy was a writer, filmmaker, teacher, and father. His pursuit of the perfect story was only overshadowed by his ability to befriend every single cat that he could possibly find. A sensitive and gentle person, he loved all of his writing students dearly and encouraged them to succeed. His life was complex and full of hardship, but he never stopped seeing love in all the places it can exist.
Adam passed away on December 31st, 2025 with his daughter Hannah, whom he cherished, at his side. He rests after complaining about the Chinese food he ate on Christmas and watching Love, Actually for the 1000th time. To the people who knew him, he imparts a dry wit, admiration for otters, and the love of a good movie.
A funeral for family and friends will take place on Thursday, January 8th, 11am, at Westchester Hills Cemetery. Donations can be made to help sea otter recovery at the Monterey Bay Aquarium: https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/join-give/ways-to-give/give.
