Alan, my dearest program chair, mentor, colleague and friend, I am so grateful for all these roles you had played in my life. Everything I felt, spoke, wrote, and thought about, science or not, for the past many years were profoundly impacted and shaped by your gentle touches. I will never forget the image of you in your office that I saw every morning before reaching my office. It is unbearable to say goodbye. I miss you terribly. May you rest in peace.
