

LEVEY--Allan L., age 94, passed away on October 30, 2022 peacefully at his Manhattan residence. Born in Westwood, NJ. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and received his Bachelor's Degree from Long Island University. Allan was a entrepreneur, he built his father's start up business the Wardley Corporation into a major player in the pet industry. He sold the company to The Hartz Mountain Corporation in 1994. While building his business, Allan along with several industry leaders led the pet industry through several decades of unparalleled growth. He recognized the importance of live animals and the anthropomorphic relationship to their owners and families and coined the phrase "Nothing happens in the pet industry until an animal is sold".
Allan co-founded and/or participated in several pet organizations and trade associations that brought professionalism and accountability to the industry, The American Pet Products Association (APPA), The Pet Care Trust, The Pet Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC), The Florida Tropical Fish Farmers Association (FTFFA) and Human Animal Bond Research Initiative (HABRI). He served these groups faithfully in varying capacities for over four decades. Allan was predeceased by his parents Edward and Birdie Levey, and his dear sisters June Wollman and Jacqueline Kanofsky. He is survived by his dear wife Barbara Levey. Also surviving are his son Kenneth Levey, his wife Yuko and grandchildren Alexis and Kenneth.
