Anita Grossman, real estate broker, died peacefully at home Saturday at age 95. She is survived by her children Ellen and Bob; grandchildren Jamil, Collin, Allison, Andrew and David; nieces Lynn and Boni; nephew Chip; sister-in-law Barbara, and daughters-in-law Paula and Suzanne.
Anita was a lifelong New Yorker, having grown up in Inwood. Her Spanish language skills helped her work as an executive assistant in an export company, before becoming the Office Manager for a private investment firm. Later in life, she discovered a new career in real estate in which she excelled, becoming Broker of the Year.
Anita married Howard, the love of her life, in 1948. Together they raised their children on the Upper West Side. Anita’s wit, kindness and sincere interest in others attracted many friends. Anita was often at the social center of any gathering. She enjoyed musical theater, loved Frank Sinatra, but most of all adored her family including her brother, David, with whom she was very close.
A funeral service is scheduled for Noon on Tuesday January 28 at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association on her behalf.
