My heart is with the family.

I was a year behind Bud at Exeter. We became friends, largely on the basis of a shared belief that life really yields a lot of laughs, and we kept in touch for the next 60-odd years. A visit to Colleen and Bud in Boca Grande three years ago was simply wonderful. He was quite simply unforgettable, and despite my sadness at his death, when I think of him, when I see and hear him in my mind, I can't help smiling. My thoughts go out his family. Bud was mensch.  In an industry were many lack integrity, judgment and perspective Bud (and Nicole) have shown that long term success and happiness can be obtained through knowing, who you are and what you stand for; furthermore, imbued with that knowledge being true to what you are, and are not, willing to do.  As anyone who spent any time talking to Bud readily realized he was well read, possessed a quick wit, and was true patriot with a deep and enduring love and appreciation of the greatness that is The American Experience. Bud will be sorely missed. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Colleen and Konheim Family, and Nicole and the Nicole Miller Organization.

Bud was an incredible mentor to me and taught me so much about the fashion business and the psychology behind it all. He gave me away at my wedding.  He meant so very much to me. I worked for Bud and Nicole for 16 years in the very beginning of it all...I will miss him so very much.
